Cameron M. Smith writes in two main fields; popular science and nonfiction travel narrative. He has written for Scientific American MIND, Playboy, Archaeology, Spaceflight, Cultural Survival Quarterly, Hang Gliding & Paragliding, The Writer, and South American Explorer magazines, and the anthologies They Lived to Tell the Tale, The Best Travel Writing (2008, 2009 and 2010) and Science Under Siege. His books include The Top Ten Myths About Evolution, endorsed by the National Center for Science Education and the American Association for the Advancement of Science and The Fact of Evolution (Prometheus Books 2011). He is currently writing two books: The Frost Giants (Solas House 2012) is a narrative of his Iceland expeditions, and Distant Lands Unknown: Human Evolution and the Colonization of Space (Springer Popular Science, 2012) argues that space exploration and colonization don’t have to be technocratic, militaristic endeavors, but are natural human developments. Cameron is an active SCUBA diver, Arctic explorer, and paraglider pilot. He is interested in how humans thrive in even the sparest environments; see www.cameronmsmith.com. You can see some of his Iceland footage, experimentally overlaid with sound to convey the experience, here.
