DAVID COOKE writes his poems in Portland, Oregon.  His debut poem Edges won the Ruth Stone Poetry Prize and was nominated for a 2010 Pushcart Prize. Most recently, his poem Meat Puppet won second in the War Poetry Contest. His work appears in Flatmancrooked, Hunger Mountain, A River & Sound Review , Heavy Hands Ink , Neglected Ratio and in performances at the Blackbird Wine Shop, Show and Tell Gallery, Stonehenge Studio, and KBOO’s Talking Earth.  He is also known as The Lawn Guy throughout Portland and Lake Oswego for his lawn maintenance business.  Much of his current work is included in his forthcoming chapbook, Discretion.

    Hey David! Great meeting you tonight. “Urine Trouble” is a great name for that story : ) As a rookie open-mic guy it was great to hear your suggestions. I realize you are probably pretty busy but if you have time I would love an email from you with recommendations for open mic spots and websites you would recommend for storytelling or open mic stuff. Thanks again!
